Dr. Bret L. Fisher is a board certified Ophthalmologist who specializes in LASIK, as well as all forms of refractive surgery including refractive cataract surgery. Dr. Fisher has been performing laser vision correction for over 20 years, and has personally performed more than 40,000 refractive procedures. Originally from Winter Park, Florida, Dr. Fisher resides in the Florida panhandle with his wife and four children. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his children, as well as boating, hiking, camping, swimming, and biking.

Dr. Fisher completed his undergraduate degree at Duke University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in philosophy, while also completing all of the requirements for the premedical curriculum. After graduation, Dr. Fisher worked in the laboratory of a Nobel laureate in biochemistry before entering medical training at the Duke University School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors. He completed his ophthalmology training at the world renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a program that is consistently ranked in the top three training programs for eye surgery each year by US News and World Report. During his time at Wills, Dr. Fisher was awarded a prestigious Fight for Sight Student Fellowship, and served as a contributing author to the First Edition of the Wills Eye Manual, a book that has gone on to become the bestselling publication in ophthalmology.

After completing his training Dr. Fisher practiced initially in San Diego, California, where he worked with physicians performing some of the first clinical studies of laser vision correction. While practicing in San Diego, Dr. Fisher also traveled regularly to Tecate, Mexico with the Flying Samaritans organization to provide cataract surgery for those in need. Dr. Fisher was recognized by the Flying Samaritans as the Founder of the Tecate Eye Clinic for his individual efforts in obtaining and bringing donated surgical equipment and supplies to the clinic to allow surgery to be performed on an ongoing basis.

Dr. Fisher is a highly sought after speaker, educator, and consultant, both to his peers as well as the eye care industry. He has authored numerous publications in the scientific literature, conducts ground breaking research on new and innovative products and treatments, and presents regularly at national and international meetings. Dr. Fisher was named the recipient of the 2008 John J. Skowron, MD, Distinguished Professorship at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine. Dr. Fisher was also one of the first surgeons in the country to perform all laser LASIK, and was the first surgeon in Florida to perform laser assisted cataract surgery.

As a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, member of the American Society of Refractive Surgery, the International Society for Refractive Surgery, and many other professional organizations, Dr. Fisher adheres to the highest ethical standards of his profession.
