Specializing in cataract and refractive surgery, Dr. Michael Summerfield is a leader in the field with over 15 years of experience teaching his surgical techniques. Dr. Summerfield has a particular interest in complex intraocular surgery, cataract and refractive surgery, and cornea cross-linking. He spent time on the faculty at Georgetown University as Residency Program Director. He has also created a successful medical and surgical practice in Washington DC.
Dr. Summerfield has been awarded multiple accolades for research and teaching. He has published several peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and has lectured both in the US and internationally. Dr. Summerfield actively participates in multiple ophthalmic societies like the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
In his free time, Dr. Summerfield spends as much time as he can with his wife and children. He enjoys camping, running, and watching his kids play soccer and hockey.
