John Belardo, M.D.

Dr. John Belardo is a board certified ophthalmic surgeon who is considered an expert in laser vision correction by his peers. Dr. Belardo has performed over 40,000 vision correction procedures and is the co-founder and surgeon of the Advanced Laser & Cataract Center. He was the very first to perform “no stick-no patch” cataract surgery in Oklahoma and also participated in the 1991 Excimer Laser Study. Dr. Belardo is also board certified in Oculoplastics.

EDUCATION/TRAINING
Dr. Belardo received a B.A. from Brooklynn College, studied Pre-Med at Long Island University, and developed his interest in refractive surgery during his residency at Columbia University. During that time, Dr. Belardo has had the opportunity to work alongside excimer laser pioneers Dr. Trokel and Dr. Aquavella. Further studies include an internship at Rutgers-Short Hills Medical Center-Rutgers Medical as well as a Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the University of Rochester, New York and an Oculoplastics Fellowship with Dr. Merritt, Dr. Myint, Dr. Gladstone and Dr. Nessi.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS/HONORS
Dr. Belardo’s is one of only a few Corneal Specialists in Oklahoma and was awarded the Top 100 Qualified Vision ICL Eye Doctor Award. He, along with three other surgeons, performed the first LASIK in the state of Oklahoma. Dr. Belardo also spends time doing mission work to help people by giving the gift of sight. He has been on mission trips to Africa, China, South America
and the United States.

Dr. Belardo is a member of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Fellow American College of Surgeons, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American Medical Association and American Academy of Ophthalmology.
