LASIK Surgery Recovery: Immediately After LASIK Treatment
Congratulations! Now that you have completed your laser eye surgery, take these simple LASIK recovery steps so that your eyes can perform their best.
After your successful laser eye surgery, have a friend drive you home and wear your sunglasses provided by The LASIK Vision Institute. Rest your eyes and keep them closed so that they are comfortable.
Help Keep Your Eyes Well Rested
Ideally you will want to keep your eyes closed for 2 to 4 hours as part of the immediate LASIK recovery process. Thus taking a nap and wearing your clear plastic shields will assist with the recovery process. After 2-4 hours, remove the plastic shields and begin using your eye lubricants to keep your eyes comfortable and moist (or as directed by your surgeon).
Avoid any rubbing, squeezing or touching of your eyes after LASIK surgery, since the flaps over your eyes are still sensitive. If your eyes become dry or irritated, just use your preservative-free artificial tears.
LASIK surgeons recommend resting for the first 24 hours following your laser eye surgery. So avoid reading, computer work, strenuous activity, and television during the LASIK recovery period.
